Welcome to the Dole Museum of Salad: Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc.

Dole Museum of Salad LogoWhen asked to create a program exhibiting Dole Salad as the leader in packaged salad, TLC knew some thinking "outside the bag" was in order. The goal was simple: "own" National Salad Month. And who better to educate the public about salad than the world's leading producer of vegetables and fruits?

Thus, the DOLE Museum of Salad debuted in New York's South Street Seaport May 1, 2001-- the first day of National Salad Month. Created to also raise awareness of the importance of eating at least five servings of vegetables and fruits a day, the "walk-in-press kit" contained quirky, colorful displays educating media and consumers about "everything salad" from origin to present day.

For those unable to view the exhibit in person, TLC launched a virtual museum tour on-line. The site also documented company mascot visits to the Today Show and Good Morning America, and a video news release and national satellite media tour were conducted from the site.

Vast media coverage included CNBC "Power Lunch," CBS Network's "Up to the Minute," WCBS Radio, front-page New York Sun, Chicago Sun-Times, CNBC.com, Chicago Sun-Times Online and EntertainmentNewsDaily.com. The museum also gained attention from international outlets in Russia, Sweden and Germany.

The museum now resides permanently at the Dole salad facility in Soledad, California. Media is encouraged to tour the plant and museum.
